Kwong Update: Responding to IRS Notices and Securing Client Refunds

webinar
IRS Number: Pending

Product Description

The US Court of Federal Claims ruled that certain tax deadlines were automatically postponed for the entire COVID-19 disaster period plus 60 days in Kwong vs. US.  This provided a refund opportunity for taxpayers who paid interest and penalties related to tax deadlines the fell between January 20, 2020, and July 10, 2023.  The government has filed an appeal on May 15, 2026.   This means protective claims for refunds needed to be filed by July 10, 2026.   However, it still may be possible file for a claim for refund now.

The IRS is sending responses for some of these claims for refund.  In this seminar we will go over next steps to consider.
