Upon completion of this course you will be able to weigh the various factors involved in the early retirement decision to determine which ones are most important to the client, as well as achieve a rudimentary understanding of the 4 parts of Medicare and how to obtain Medicare benefits. You will obtain a basic overview of life expectancies and drawing ages, along with information on when to draw and age break even points. Participants will become familiar with the history and changes to social security in 2021, such as: new terminology, the President’s proposals, and the 10 Benefits to Social Security. You will gain insight into the summary of benefits by taxpayer type, taxability of benefits, and the categories of benefits, including the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset. The course will also provide information on where to go for more information and how to sign up.

This course introduces the student to the Social Security system, explains what it takes to qualify, taxability, types of benefits (worker, spouse, dependent, widow) and walks through when and how to sign up for benefits. It is an incredibly valuable “overview” of the system, as well as an introduction to deeper study of Social Security and Medicare.
