Product Description
In 2017 my friend Matt Johnson asked me to write down much of the financial (and life
advice) in the first edition of this self-published book titled “Paid For”. I did, and was
surprised at the popularity of the book, and after it went out of print I continued to quote
lines or topics in our weekly newsletter with regular requests to reprint the book. Well, I
can’t do that without adding more stuff, so this 2023 version has been updated from 2017
and now includes several new “just as useful” chapters. Oh, if you were looking for that
old book “Paid For” this is a new edition of that old book, re-titled to a more
comprehensive title now “The Life Book”. 10,000 tax returns. 45 years of dealing with average Americans. 45 years of listening to the financial “experts” with their supposed secrets, get rich quick schemes and advice that works really well in books but is rarely followed in real life. I’ve had enough. There are no secrets here. There are no get rich quick or retire early scams or schemes, and in particular there are none of those academic ideas that don’t apply in real life. This book
is about a lifetime of dealing with average people who just want to know what to do for
now, for their future and for their kids. Much like the old-time family doctor of a bygone
age, this book is written by an old-time family CPA with knowledge of the latest tools and
tricks, but the experience of 45 years of listening to problems and preparing 10,000 tax
returns to give you some real, hands-on advice, maybe with some stories, humor, and life
lessons to help you avoid the financial mistakes of life.
